Apple debuted a new advertisement campaign to inform consumers of privacy risks, TechCrunch reports. The 90-second ad highlighted how the data broker industry sells mobile users’ personal data, such as browsing history, location data and contacts. The campaign will also feature the tools Apple has developed as a countermeasure to data brokers, which include Mail Privacy Protection and App Tracking Transparency. In the ad, a user, “Ellie,” stumbles into a secret auction of her data while she is shopping for records.
