Rep. Katherine Clark (D-Mass.) was the apparent target of a swatting attempt this weekend, Ars Technica reports. The Melrose, Massachusetts, police department received a phone call from a computerized voice claiming shots had been fired at Clark’s home address. Using a computerized voice to make a false threat is known as “swatting,” as it’s expected the police would dispatch a SWAT team to handle the threat. Clark introduced the Internet Swatting Hoax Act in Congress three months ago, and says the recent incident “will really cause me to double down” on her efforts to combat swatting.
