An eight-person advisory panel appointed by Google released its much-anticipated report on how best to apply the Court of Justice of the European Union's ruling on the right to be forgotten (RTBF), recommending delisting only apply in Europe. However, GigaOM reports, Andrus Ansip, the EU vice president in charge of the digital single market, believes the ruling should apply globally, which is in line with the guidance provided by the Article 29 Working Party. “Everybody has to respect a decision made by the courts,” Ansip said, adding the RTBF “is not just based on a decision of court but a court decision based on EU legislation.” In other privacy law-related news, InsidePrivacy reports Germany’s government has “approved a draft law to strengthen the private enforcement of certain data protection law provisions that aim to protect consumers.”
