Brazil's data protection authority, the Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados, announced the two-year term of Director Miriam Wimmer, CIPP/E, ended Nov. 6. Wimmer was one of four original directors appointed to the ANPD Board of Directors. ANPD CEO Waldemar Gonçalves said Wimmer carried out her duties with "mastery, competence, commitment and extreme knowledge about personal data protection." Wimmer could be nominated to a second term or Brazil's president may appoint a new director. The Federal Senate will have to approve a nomination in either case.
