Brazil’s data protection authority, the Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados, said work during its first year of operation “presents encouraging results and reasons for celebration.” Since it was formally established Nov. 6, 2020, the ANPD said 17 ordinances were published and the authority received more than 3,100 inquiries regarding compliance with the General Law for the Protection of Personal Data. The results “reflect ANPD’s commitment and determination to achieve its mission of ensuring the protection of personal data for all Brazilians.”
