Brazil has approved a new law, the General Data Protection Law, which will come into effect in early 2020. The LGPD creates a new legal framework for the use of personal data in Brazil, both online and offline, in the private and public sectors. In this Privacy Tracker post, Renato Leite Monteiro, CIPP/E, CIPM, offers a detailed analysis of the law, which "aims not only to guarantee individual rights but also to foster economic, technological and innovation development through clear, transparent and comprehensive rules for the adequate use of personal data."
