In a filing to California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, the Association of National Advertisers argued companies should not be prosecuted for current California Consumer Privacy Act violations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, MediaPost reports. “Businesses should not be penalized under the CCPA for current conduct or activities when their attention is rightfully focused on the dire and important matter of managing the novel coronavirus,” the ANA wrote in the filing. Meanwhile, the Electronic Frontier Foundation joined a group of advocates that filed comments with Becerra's office over the proposed regulations for the CCPA.
