Election rhetoric has bolstered support between the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee and privacy advocates, the Morning Consult reports. Surveillance is a top concern, the report states. “There is an urgency due to the political rhetoric and hate climate,” said the ADC’s Yolanda Rondon. “The calls for registry and immigration bans, patrolling neighbors are troubling and alarming, where fear mongering is being used to allow the abrogation of civil rights.” The group has taken to legislative advocacy, most recently co-signing a letter with “some of the most notable tech and privacy groups” to the Senate Judiciary Committee over the FBI’s move to access personally identifiable information without a warrant, the report states.
