Gizmodo reports Amazon is facing a lawsuit over violations of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act related to the alleged storage of voice recordings. The suit claims Amazon did not disclose its data retention practices or obtain user consent with its collection of "voiceprints" as part of a third-party contract Amazon Connect had with Pindrop Security. According to the lawsuit, Amazon Web Services "knowingly intercepted the telephone calls" for the purpose of harvesting data and passing it off to Pindrop.
