Alberta’s Information and Privacy Commissioner Jill Clayton found the Babylon by Telus Health application was not in compliance with the Health Information Act and Personal Information Protection Act, Global News reports. An investigation raised concerns about Babylon’s privacy notice and determined the app's collection and use of IDs and photos for identity verification and fraud prevention was not reasonable. “I hope the lessons learned from this investigation help other healthcare professionals and organizations take the steps necessary to comply with Alberta’s privacy laws," Clayton said.
