The personal data of 1.2 million passengers of Indian airline SpiceJet has been exposed in a data breach, Infosecurity Magazine reports. A security researcher reportedly gained access last month to an encrypted database containing passengers’ names, phone numbers, email addresses and birthdates. The researcher contacted the airline and India’s computer emergency response team. The company has taken steps to secure the exposed database and said the safety and security of customers’ data is “sacrosanct,” adding, “We undertake every possible measure to safeguard and protect this data and ensure that the privacy is maintained at the highest and safest level.”
