The reaction to the rollback of Obama-era U.S. Federal Communications Commission privacy rules continues, Ad Age reports, with states taking up the issue. More specifically, at least 11 states are considering 21 new privacy bills. "We have some people right now in this country that are worried about their data privacy," said Rep. Richard DeBolt, a Republican in the Washington state legislature. "We've seen it all over the country. People are reacting to their data being sold." Yet, DLA Piper associate Kate Lucente said, "Arguments that the repeal of the FCC broadband privacy rules has freed ISPs to sell consumers' personal information are simply false." She pointed out, according to the report, that "all major ISPs" have promised in their privacy policies to get consent from consumers prior to selling their information.
