- Denmark's data protection authority, Datatilsynet, released its annual report for 2020, highlighting a 13% increase in the total number of cases over 2019. “The number of cases created is the highest number of newly created cases since the establishment of the Danish Data Protection Agency back in 1979,” the authority said.
- Spain's data protection authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, also published its annual activity report for 2020. The AEPD received 10,324 complaints in 2020, a 123% increase, and 16% and 15% of those claims were against internet services and improper insertion in delinquency files, respectively. The AEPD also handed out sanctioning procedures most frequently to financial entities and telecommunications companies.
