- The Washington Post reports advocacy groups came out in support of the proposed American Data Privacy and Protection Act in the wake of claims from members of U.S. Congress that the bill contains less stringent provisions compared to the California Consumer Privacy Act and the California Privacy Rights Act. The Electronic Privacy Information Center and the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law were among the groups to explain how the federal proposal goes further than California with its provisions on data minimization, sensitive data protections and consumer redress via a private right of action.
- Consumer Reports sent a letter to the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce outlining perceived areas of weakness in the American Data Privacy and Protection Act.
