Adoptees are pressing Connecticut lawmakers for access to their original birth certificates, The Associated Press reports. The General Assembly's Planning and Development Committee received nearly 300 pieces of written testimony from adoptees and birth parents, where many argued that access to such records was essential. "As an adult adoptee, I beg you to relieve me of my pain, by returning to me the birth-identity knowledge that the state has held secret, through no fault of my own, against my will, and without any reasonable recourse," one man wrote to the committee.
