The Adelaide City Council passed an amendment to ban police use of facial recognition until South Australia laws are drawn up regarding the use of the technology, IT News reports. The amendment was tied to the city's plans to replace its worn "City Safe CCTV network" system, and specifically prevents the police from using any facial recognition technology in the new CCTV delivery in 2023 until new legislation.
