Acxiom European Privacy Officer Sachiko Scheuing, CIPP/E, sat down for an interview with AdExchanger regarding advertisers’ views of the EU General Data Protection Regulation. Scheuing said advertisers are “just scared” of the impending rules, and those fears are preventing advertisers from voicing their concerns in GDPR debates. Advertisers are also struggling with the ePrivacy Regulations requiring opt-in for all collected data. Advertisers are worried larger companies will have a far easier time collecting opt-ins than smaller companies. “They are saying [in regulation drafts] that maybe the browser setting is sufficient,” Scheuing said. “99.9999% of all the companies in the digital ecosystem and advertising and marketing field will not have much of a say in how the browser can function.”
