The American Civil Liberties Union is concerned that President Donald Trump's Jan. 25 executive order contains language that would allow the government to access and release information about non-U.S. citizens, according to an ACLU blog post. As such, the agency said it would write "to every federal agency calling on them to halt any plans they have to implement the order," and has already addressed European Union officials in tandem with Human Rights Watch, the blog post states. The ACLU's concerns about the order's implications include the potential ease with which immigration and customs enforcement officials could access data for deportation purposes. Ultimately, "this policy change is flawed, unwise, and will needlessly strip away the rights of millions," the report adds.
