The American Council of Life Insurers issued a statement backing the drafting of a federal privacy law. ACLI Vice President and Deputy for Policy Development Kate Kiernan wrote in a letter to U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., stating the U.S. can't "be left behind" on privacy and "a patchwork of 50 state laws on privacy will not provide protection or peace of mind to consumers."
