As privacy professionals look toward the start of trilogue discussions on the draft EU ePrivacy Regulation scheduled to start summer 2021, IAPP Senior Westin Research Fellows Jetty Tielemans and Müge Fazlioglu, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, offer an overview of key provisions of the text approved by the Council of Ministers earlier this year. Tielemans and Fazlioglu focused on three main areas: cookies, the scope of application of the regulation, and unsolicited direct marketing communications and spam. “The stakes are high and we should expect heated discussions,” they wrote.
