Indian officials have called upon local companies to develop technology powered by artificial intelligence to help in these efforts. One such initiative sponsored by the federal government would use thermal cameras to track whether a person is wearing a mask. Municipal workers in northern Chandigarh were ordered earlier this year to wear GPS devices to track their efficiency, which sparked concerns from privacy advocates.
