Video software provider Synamedia stated video piracy of two unnamed video service providers left more than 3 million subscribers’ credentials, including passwords, compromised over a six-month period, MediaPost reports. The company said of those viewers, data from 6,000 accounts was available for purchase in 15 different marketplaces on the open and dark web. The two video service providers reportedly lost $72 million in potential annual revenue due to more than 500,000 users accessing accounts through password sharing.
