Dominion National revealed a security breach spanning nine years, Information Security Media Group reports. The dental and vision insurer discovered the breach in April while investigating an “internal alert” with a cybersecurity firm. In a statement, the insurer said the breach may have first occurred in August 2010. Dominion National is unsure if the information was “accessed, acquired or misused.” Affected servers may have contained personal information, including Social Security, bank account, member ID and group numbers. It is unclear how many individuals may have been impacted by the breach and if members of the third-party-administered self-funded health plans have been affected.
