HealthITSecurity reports Central Ohio Urology Group suffered a data breach after an unauthorized individual posted files and documents on the internet, exposing the information of 300,000 patients. The organization said the compromised information varied from patient to patient, but could include anything from names, addresses, Social Security numbers, health insurance information, and medical treatment. The information was removed within hours, and COUG contacted local law enforcement to investigate the breach. The report also covered Martin Army Community Hospital which alerted patients to possible HIPAA violations, and Urgent Care Clinic of Oxford in Mississippi disclosing it had recently suffered a ransomware attack.
