In a letter to Under Secretary Christopher Krebs, the head of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s risk-reduction efforts in cyberspace, Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., asked that new technologies be employed to conceal unencrypted metadata that exposes the domain names of websites visited by users, Gizmodo reports. The letter was also sent to senior officials at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the U.S. General Services Administration, and the U.S. Defense Department. Wyden has requested a response within the next 60 days. Meanwhile, the No More Ransom project unveiled an updated decryption tool that will be available for download. The tool was developed by Romanian police, Europol and Bitdefender and is said to be more potent than the tool released in February.
