The founder of Privacy International, Simon Davies, has said the online gaming industry is failing to adequately protect its customers’ personal data and violates the UK’s Data Protection Act (DPA), reports. After analyzing the industry for two years, Davies says many online sites collect vast amounts of personal information, including passport and credit card scans, driver’s licenses and utility bills. “All the available evidence indicates that this information is stored permanently,” Davies has said, adding that this constitutes a violation of the third and fifth principles of the DPA, the report states.
