In a blog post for The New York Times, Nick Bilton explores the repercussions of last week's privacy breach involving mobile social networking site Path and comments made by the site's chief executive, who said the company's actions were an "industry best practice." Bilton writes, "The big deal is that privacy and security is not a big deal in Silicon Valley." Several industry peers "applauded" Path CEO David Morin, while engineers pointed out to Bilton that the data collection was not an accident. "It seems the management philosophy of 'ask forgiveness, not permission' is becoming the 'industry best practice.'
