In a recent editorial, GuelphMercury.com suggests that MP Frank Valeriote's proposed Protecting Canadian Privacy Act will "generate discussion among lawmakers and many citizens" but "stands little chance of becoming law." In evaluating the bill, the editorial suggests that while it seeks to prevent the photography or filming of residents without their consent, "it poses the risk of criminalizing all sorts of actions that Canadian society would likely widely support as legal, reasonable and important."
