CBS reports that Progressive Direct Insurance has agreed to a $125,000 cash settlement following allegations the company broke Massachusetts state law by "using customers' private credit information." The consumer complaint alleged the company allowed customers to "unknowingly link to a private credit inquiry to calculate insurance rates," the report states, noting the link to the credit inquiry was removed from the company's website last month.
