The Wall Street Journal reports on a case before the Supreme Court to determine whether law enforcement officials need warrants to attach GPS devices to suspects' vehicles. The case, which is scheduled to be heard Tuesday, "asks what privacy expectations are reasonable in an era when Americans surround themselves with digital devices that constantly log their movements in computer databases," the report states. The case hinges in part on the government's argument that warrants to secretly attach GPS devices are unnecessary for what it contends are "labor-saving" devices to record "movements that police could have observed in public with their own eyes."
