There is a need for greater transparency in the processing of personal data, according to Swiss Data Protection Commissioner Hanspeter Th?r. In his annual report, released yesterday, Th?r said changes are needed due to the "rapid pace of development in the area of communication technologies," and that "data protection principles must be included in all projects and taken into account from the very outset." The report notes that Th?r handled many cases related to new technologies in the last year. An issue of particular concern is "evercookies," Swissinfo.ch reports.
