Moving forward with its plan to encourage states to compile detailed databases on all student records from preschool through adult employment, the Obama administration has created a task force of "national experts" to resolve political and legal privacy concerns, the Chronicle of Higher Education reports. The Education Department has convened a panel of between 20 and 30 experts to begin meeting this month, the report states. Education Department spokesman Justin Hamilton explains that the task force is being asked "to identify ways to share information with the public while protecting individual privacy." Specific recommendations are expected to be released within two months to guide state officials in compiling databases of individual student performance.
