The EU's telecommunications commissioner says if Facebook and other social networking sites don't change their privacy policies, they could face regulation, BusinessWeek reports. Commissioner Viviane Reding said she was "astonished" by Facebook's recent changes in privacy settings, which made users' profile pictures, gender and location available to third-party software applications that run on the site. An EU commission report on social networking sites' compliance with voluntary privacy protection principles is expected tomorrow. "If it's not done by self-regulation, then regulation has to come in," Reding said.
