The UK Home Office has responded to the European Commission (EC) about Internet privacy concerns, reports ISPreview.co.uk. The EC opened a second-phase infringement proceeding against the UK in October for its potential failure to protect online privacy by allowing trials of a controversial ad-serving technology to be carried out in 2006. The Home Office was to have responded to EC questions on the matter by December 31, but the deadline was extended to January 18 at the request of the UK government. The Home Office confirmed that it has responded to the inquiry.
