Making links

The International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners has appointed Steven Johnston as liaison officer on identity management and privacy technologies.

In this role, Johnston will serve as an expertise link between privacy and data protection commissioners.
“There are now many players in the international scene working to develop solutions to the privacy challenges facing the world,” said New Zealand Privacy Commissioner Marie Shroff, who announced the appointment with Walter Fumy, chairman of ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 27, the international standards committee on information security. This is “one small step to link together some of the stakeholders to share knowledge and experience.”

Johnston is senior security and technology advisor to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
