John Grace dies at 82

A privacy pioneer passed away last month. John Grace was Canada’s first privacy and information commissioner. He was appointed to the position in 1983 and was reappointed in 1990. He retired from the position in 1998. At the age of 82, Grace died of a heart attack at his home last month.

“His legacy within the Office of the Privacy Commissioner is apparent in the pride and wonderful anecdotes of those who worked with him,” said current Canadian Privacy Commissioner Jennifer Stoddart.
