Consumer Guide to Identity Monitoring Services
The Privacy Rights Clearinghouse (PRC) says that many credit monitoring services are overpriced and not worth the money they cost. The San Diego-based advocacy group has released an online guide with tips on selecting identity-theft monitoring services. The guide's author, PRC's director of policy and advocacy Paul Stephens, recommends consumers do their homework when considering monitoring services, as free and low-cost solutions that provide the same amount of protection as higher-cost products are available.
