Avue and LifeLock Partner to Offer ID Theft Liability Protection to Federal Agencies
Avue Technologies, a provider of human capital technology to the federal government, and LifeLock, a provider of identity theft prevention services, have announced a joint effort to protect federal government agencies from liability for identity theft.
The program was launched in response to data security incidents at federal agencies, potentially costing hundreds of millions of dollars for credit reporting and fraud mitigation. The parties believe this is the first time a company has secured identity theft protection for its customers proactively well before any such loss might occur.
Under terms of the agreement, Avue will purchase LifeLock coverage for all full-time employees of federal agency subscribers to Avue's human capital automation platform. The coverage will be added to the agency's subscription to Avue at no charge to either the agency or its employees. Employees wishing to accept the offer will merely need to "opt-in" through a desktop portal. In the event that a registered employee's personal identity information is compromised, the employee's credit and identity will already be protected.
Employees will be given the option to add their spouse or children to LifeLock coverage at their own expense. When an employee leaves, he or she will have the option to continue coverage at their own expense.
"Given the significant number of reported personal data losses in the federal government, we take great satisfaction in this opportunity to bring peace of mind to federal employees," said LifeLock CEO Todd Davis.
