Los Angeles County’s hospitals and clinics have confirmed that 14,591 patients had their information exposed in a recent data breach, Government Technology reports. L.A. County Department of Health Services contractor Nemadji Research Corp. exposed the patient information after experiencing a phishing attack in March. Patient names, addresses, birthdates, medical record numbers and Medi-Cal identification numbers were exposed for several hours as part of the hack. The hacker gained access to databases through the email attack and proceeded to use encryption keys found within the Nemadji employee's email account to collect the patient information.
