Wired reports on how one woman’s Apple iPhone X was unlocked by her 10-year-old son using the Face ID on his very first try, raising concerns over accidental privacy issues with the biometric security system. While Apple did not respond for comment, it did point to the Face ID security white paper and support page, which states, "the statistical probability is different for twins and siblings that look like you and among children under the age of 13, because their distinct facial features may not have fully developed. If you're concerned about this, we recommend using a passcode to authenticate." Reports of other successful Face ID attempts have surfaced, including non-identical siblings and half-siblings.
