About the IAPP

Catia Reis is a data protection expert with experience advising multinational clients based in Portugal, Spain and the UK on complex legal and privacy matters and further afield.



She was admitted as a lawyer by the Portuguese Bar Association, where she worked for Abreu Advogados, one of the largest and most well-recognized law firms in Portugal. It was after working as a Data Protection Liaison Officer for the insurance market in Madrid, where she helped with the design and implementation of data protection procedures and policies, handled the exercise of data subjects’ rights and dealt with personal data breaches, that she dedicated her career to data protection and related matters.



Since then, Catia worked as a data protection consultant based in Ireland, helping clients in the pharmaceutical, technology and other sectors achieve compliance with their data protection obligations, with a special focus on GDPR, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, cyber resilience and cyber security. She has also extensive experience leading GDPR training sessions across Europe. 

Catia joined PwC’s UK Data Protection, Strategy, Legal and Compliance team as a Senior Associate in London and, most recently, she is working with PwC’s Digital Regulation team in Madrid, Spain.



Catia has a LLM in Legal and Private Sciences, she is ISO 27001 Lead Auditor and Implementer Certified (CIS LA/CIS LI), a Certified Cyber Risk Management Practitioner (CCRMP) and a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and of the Spanish Professional Association of Privacy (APEP).
