Karin Kiefer is director of the Rights Protection & Sanctions Directorate of the French data protection authority (Commission nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés). This directorate is in charge of the compliance of personal data processing: handling complaints from individuals, carrying out inspections and enforcement powers.
Karin has been working at the French data protection authority since 2008, first as legal expert, then as Head of the Enforcement Department in 2016. In May 2018, she became deputy director of the Rights Protection & Sanctions Directorate, before taking up her new responsibilities in November 2021.
Prior to that, Karin worked as legal expert in administrative litigation for a local authority and for the online gaming regulatory authority
