Victoria Watts, CIPT, is Global Data Protection Officer at Premier Research, a mid-sized Contract Research Organization conducting clinical research, since February 2018, responsible for overseeing data protection strategy and programme implementation to ensure compliance with global privacy laws. Victoria has previously worked as the Data Protection Liaison in the UK entity of Abbvie, and before that, in the Data Protection Team at Thames Water. Prior to moving into the world of data protection, she had a senior role as Compliance Manager for a South African multinational, Barloworld, and developed their anti-bribery, ethics, and competition law compliance programmes.
Victoria is a trained lawyer, specializing in data protection. She studied History at Royal Holloway, University of London and later attained a Master of Studies in Modern History from the University of Oxford. Then retrained in Law in 2012 and earned an LLB from the University of Law. Once she moved into the field of data protection, Victoria attained a Practitioner’s Certificate in the field along with a Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) qualification since January 2018.
