About the IAPP

Simon is Chevron’s Global Data Privacy Manager (Chief Privacy Officer), having begun his career in data privacy in 2017 following 18 years as an employment and benefits lawyer. He additionally serves as Chevron’s DPO for the European region. Simon manages a global team of privacy experts and holds responsibility for delivering Chevron’s privacy program across more than 80 countries where Chevron does business.

Since moving into Chevron’s privacy team in 2017, Simon has played a key role in delivery of the company’s GDPR readiness project and subsequently led its CCPA readiness project. More recently, he has spearheaded efforts to streamline, consolidate and simplify the privacy program. His areas of interest include privacy of employee data and data subject access requests in the context of employment disputes, occupational health data, risk-based approaches to privacy compliance and human performance limitations as a root cause of data breaches.

Simon received his LLB from the University of Bristol and his BCL (LLM equivalent) from Oxford University and is licensed to practice law in England & Wales.
