About the IAPP

Rebecca (Becky) Caldwell is EU DPO and Legal Counsel for Garmin, an international consumer electronics company with marine, aviation, sports and fitness, outdoor, and automotive products, and Navionics, an Italian marine cartography company.  She has an undergraduate degree in Computer Science with a math minor and a Juris Doctorate in Law.  Becky joined Garmin in the Kansas City metro area in 2008 as a software engineer on the server operations team, later taking over as a team leader.  She moved to the Swiss office as in-house IP counsel in 2014 and to Munich in 2018 to serve in her current roles.  This uncommon combination of backgrounds and experience has given her a broader perspective on data protection and the overlap with security and technology.
