About the IAPP

Jesse Sopko is the General Manager of Corporate Services in Sturgeon County, Alberta. In this capacity, Jesse oversees the municipality’s legislative services, human resources, corporate communications, and information services functions.

Jesse has worked in Municipal Clerk offices in rural and urban municipalities ranging in population from 2,000 to 1 million people and therefore has a unique perspective on the strategic operation of information access and privacy offices in public bodies of varying sizes, budgets, and levels of sophistication. 

Jesse holds a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Jesse also holds designations as a Certified Information Access and Privacy Professional through the Canadian Institute of Access and Privacy Professionals and a Certified Local Government Manager through the Society of Local Government Managers of Alberta, of which he is also a provincial Board Member.
