Health Sciences Director

Dr. Lee is a Health Sciences Director within the National Cancer Institute’s Office of the Director and is responsible for strategic scientific initiatives that focus on the integration of advanced technologies and trans-disciplinary approaches to accelerate the creation of publicly available, broadly accessible, multi-dimensional data, knowledge, and tools to empower the entire cancer research continuum for patient benefit.  He continues research as an adjunct associate professor at Johns Hopkins University, where he also earned his bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering and Ph.D. degree in chemical and biomolecular engineering.  He also holds an appointment at the Washington D.C. Veterans Affairs Medical Center and collaborates with clinicians on next generation patient-centered outcomes research.  Dr. Lee is a member of the Innovation Policy Forum of the National Academies Board on Science, Technology, and Economic Policy, the Foundation for the NIH’s Biomarkers’ Consortium Cancer Steering Committee, the Health and Environmental Sciences Institute’s Board of Trustees, and the editorial board of Convergence Science Physical Oncology journal.  In 2016, Dr. Lee was assigned to Office of the Vice President to serve as the Deputy Director for Cancer Research and Technology for the White House Cancer Moonshot Task Force.
