John N. Gevertz is Global Chief Privacy Officer / VP – Office of Privacy and Data Governance for ADP, LLC.  John provides legal advice, as well as operational and strategic guidance to all world-wide ADP business units on a wide range of privacy, cybersecurity, information management and related issues.  Within ADP’s Global Security Organization, the Privacy and Data Governance office is responsible for privacy policy and compliance programs; strategic product support including privacy-by-design, multinational platforms and data analytics; privacy incident management; and health data privacy.  During his time at ADP, John has taken on a succession of more challenging assignments and has been responsible for developing the intellectual property, operational risk management, and security policy and controls assurance programs.



John speaks regularly to ADP clients and internal teams, as well as industry and legal groups on privacy, risk and data security topics.  Recently, he was an invited speaker at the 36th International Privacy and Data Protection Commissioners Conference where he presented on privacy-centric approaches to enhancing cybersecurity.



His professional memberships include the Conference Board Council of Chief Privacy Officers, the International Association of Privacy Professionals, and the Forum on International Privacy and the Information Accountability Forum.



Prior to joining ADP, John was a litigator at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, where he primarily handled intellectual property, securities, and white collar criminal matters.  He also served as Appellate Counsel at the Criminal Appeals Bureau of New York’s Legal Aid Society.  Prior to law school, John served as a staff scientist at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.



John received his J.D. from New York University and his B.A. (with honors) in both biology and political philosophy from Brown University.
