Privacy and Innovation Specialist

Christopher Gillespie is a Privacy and Innovation Specialist with the Data & Trust Office at TELUS. He proactively provides guidance on privacy matters to ensure adherence to TELUS Data and Privacy Program. His primary role is to strategically support TELUS’ Smart Security and Automation, Smart Cities, Smart Buildings, Digital Identity, 5G Innovation, and M&A portfolios, ensuring technologies are deployed in a manner that meets TELUS’ Trust Model.

 

Christopher has worked on privacy issues in a variety of roles since 2012, including most recently as the Sr. Policy Analyst for the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, where he represented the office on monthly international calls, was responsible for developing guidance documents for the private and public sectors, responded to privacy inquiries and reviewed proposed programs, projects, activities, and legislative amendments from across the province. Other previous roles have included work as a Privacy Advisor and Investigator for the corporate privacy branch for the BC Public Service and as a Privacy Advisor with the BC Centre for Disease Control.



In addition to his IAPP certifications, Christopher holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (Honours) from the University of Victoria, a Masters in Public Administration from the Royal Military College of Canada, and a Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University
