Policy Analyst

Christopher Gillespie is a Policy Analyst with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (OIPC). Established in 1993, the OIPC provides independent oversight and enforcement for BC’s access and privacy laws for both the public and private sector. As a policy analyst, Christopher is responsible for responding to privacy inquiries and reviewing proposed programs, projects, activities, and legislative amendments from across the province.

Christopher has worked on privacy issues in a variety of roles since 2012, including the corporate privacy branch for the BC Public Service and with the BC Centre for Disease Control. As an Investigator at the OIPC, he investigated and mediated access to information disputes and privacy complaints.

In addition to his CIPM and CIPP/C accreditations, Christopher also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (Honours) from the University of Victoria and a Master’s in Public Administration from the Royal Military College of Canada. Christopher serves on the CIPP/C Exam Development Board and as KnowledgeNet Co-Chair for Victoria.
