Michael Hellbusch, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM
Michael Hellbusch is a privacy and data security attorney with TLD Law in Irvine, CA. His work focuses on advising clients about risks associated with the collection, use, and retention of personal and confidential information. He assists clients in developing privacy and data security programs and policies, and litigates matters related to privacy, data security, and consumer protection. He also counsels on preparation for the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Mike's experience as a litigator informs all aspects of his privacy and data security consulting practice. He brings in-depth knowledge of privacy issues to discovery, e-discovery, and law and motion practice. In his consulting work, he provides clients with a unique understanding of how their business decisions can play out in a litigation context.
Mike has lectured on the topics including data protection practices for individuals and business, data breach response protocols, and privacy rights and responsibilities for students in the Digital Age. He has presented at the California State University at Fullerton regarding Cyber Risk, and presented on the topic of digital assets after death before the Professional Fiduciary Association of California. He has written extensively on privacy and security issues and moderated panels for the Orange County KnowledgeNet chapter, of which he was the founding chairperson.
Mike is certified as an Information Privacy Professional in both US (CIPP/US) and Privacy Management (CIPM), and serves as a chair for the Orange County chapter of IAPP.
